If your sump pump is actually running frequently, it's probably opportunity to clear out the pit as well as change the float button. Debris in the pit may make it hard for the change to activate, and a caught float could lead to the pump to get too hot. If this is actually the situation, unplug the pump and make an effort personally raising the float arm to find if it functions. You may also clear the outpouring water pipes by operating stressful water with it.
